The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing team delivering large-scale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects across the United States.

This is a senior technical role with responsibility for the mechanical design and delivery of complex facilities, working across the project lifecycle from concept and design through construction, commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical engineering and design of data center and mission-critical facilities from concept through construction and commissioning.
  • Design and review HVAC, chilled water, hydronic, heat rejection and mechanical utility systems.
  • Perform mechanical load calculations, equipment sizing, system analysis and capacity planning.
  • Develop reliable and scalable cooling solutions for high-density computing, AI and HPC environments.
  • Support the design and integration of liquid cooling technologies, including direct-to-chip cooling and cooling distribution units (CDUs).
  • Select and specify major mechanical equipment including chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, heat exchangers and associated plant.
  • Develop and review drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, P&IDs and design documentation.
  • Design systems around appropriate redundancy, resiliency, maintainability and uptime requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with electrical, structural, architectural, controls, fire protection and construction teams.
  • Review external engineering designs, equipment selections, submittals and technical documentation.
  • Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling to optimize airflow and liquid flow within the data center, ensuring thermal containment and efficiency.
  • Support construction, site inspections, factory/field testing and commissioning and integrated systems testing.
  • Contribute to value engineering, constructability reviews and the development of standardised or modular mechanical solutions where appropriate.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, with data center, mission-critical or similarly complex facilities experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, hydronic systems and mechanical cooling infrastructure.
  • Experience taking mechanical projects from design through construction and commissioning.
  • Understanding of US mechanical/building codes and relevant ASHRAE standards.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and working with contractors, vendors and clients.
  • Strong technical communication, problem-solving and project delivery skills.
  • Experience with AI/HPC, high-density computing or liquid cooling.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD and mechanical engineering/design software.
  • Experience with modular or prefabricated mechanical infrastructure.
