Field Service Engineer

Positions required for the following locations:

  • Cambridge
  • Bristol
  • Durham/Darlington 
  • Aberdeen

Key Duties

  • Carry out inspections and cleaning tasks, ensuring findings are reported to the management team.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on solar modules, inverters, cabling, connectors, and both DC and AC distribution equipment.
  • Maintain module mounting structures, site fencing, gates, as well as inverter and transformer stations (excluding the internal equipment).
  • Oversee the upkeep of monitoring and communication systems such as data loggers, routers, and sensors.
  • Service security-related infrastructure, including cameras and barrier systems.
  • Diagnose electrical issues using both visual checks and specialised testing methods (e.g., thermal imaging, insulation testing).
  • Implement corrective actions to maximise operational availability of the plant.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and liaise with subcontractors to ensure standards are met.
  • Respond to unplanned maintenance requirements and, when necessary, oversee subcontractor work to ensure quality compliance.
  • This role will occasionally require weekend and public holiday availability.

Experience and Competencies

  • Minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in installing and maintaining electrical systems within an industrial environment.
  • Previous involvement in solar PV operations and maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Recognised NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) electrical qualification.
