The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end execution of the scope of work for a vessel intervention period (maintenance, repair, mobilisation, conversion, installation of mission equipment, etc.) and redelivery, on behalf of our client. This role ensures that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to stringent quality and safety standards, while also achieving high vessel performance and reliability post-redelivery.
Your responsibilities
- Strategic Project Leadership: Employ exceptional organisational and planning skills to manage project complexities, ensure the vessel's optimal performance upon redelivery, oversee the entire project scope for efficient task execution, and conduct daily meetings focused on progress and optimisation.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage in consultative discussions with the Technical Works Manager and Technical Supervisors, seek advice from Procurement and the Vessel Manager, and keep the vessel manager informed about project progress and budget.
- Empowering Team Leadership: Coordinate and manage the project team, ensuring their performance and wellbeing, providing coaching and feedback, and fostering a team-oriented environment.
- Finance Control: Take charge of financial oversight and cost optimisation, manage Budget Change Requests with support from Finance and the Vessel Manager, and perform financial analysis to ensure the project's financial health and compliance, up to final invoice responsibility.
- Contractor Management: Ensure strict adherence to yard and subcontractor contracts, proactively manage additional work requests, and consult with Procurement and the Vessel Manager on pricing and approval of Variation Orders.
- Motivate the project team to apply a schedule-driven contractor management approach to reach a shorter intervention project within budget and scope.
- Claim Management: Handle and resolve claims effectively with input from Supervisors/Finance, keeping the Vessel Manager well-informed throughout.
- Reporting: Report weekly progress to the Project SteerCo.
- ITP Monitoring: Monitor the overall progress of the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) on a weekly basis.
- Preparation Phase: HQ-based for 9 to 12 months.
- Execution Phase: On site for 2–3 months, working a 2:1 rotation.
Your profile
- Basic technical knowledge of ship repair, preferably in dredging and offshore installation vessels.
- Experience in turnaround repair/conversion projects (onshore industry or offshore sector) is highly advantageous, but not mandatory.
- Strong finance control skills.
- Overall project management experience, including scheduling/planning.
- People management skills with the ability to shape a coherent project team.
- PMP certification is an advantage.
